indie new media uprise 2.0
As a pioneer in the age of web series, I feel I’ve been on the winning side of new media. However, with all of us, the pay off hasn’t been 7 figure. That isn’t a reason to quit, because 6 figure isn’t out of the question. Producing for new media is all about resources, and everyone has them. Some of us have better resources than others, but the fact is, when writing for the web, you should write for what you have, or what you have access too.
I believe the recent downfall of big web production companies is a sign to us all in the indie side to keep on going. I know what I’m doing right now is on par with anything anyone in the studios would have been doing, but I don’t have the overhead they do. I encourage everyone in new media to make what they believe in, and use the distribution platforms you have access to. It is a new era for indie.
