War on Drugs is a failure like Prohibition
“This war on drugs has been a detriment to personal liberty and it’s been a real abuse of liberty,” Paul said. “Our prisons are full with people who have used drugs who should be treated as patients — and they’re non-violent. Someday we’re gonna awake and find out that the prohibition we are following right now with drugs is no more successful, maybe a lot...

I couldn't agree more...
I got these statements from Spytap’s blog, but they are right on and I couldn’t agree more…  The simple truth is that I’m: Pro-choice, because as a man, I’ll never have to get an abortion. Thus I feel that the women I love should be able to make their own (painfully difficult) decision without my influence. Pro-private gun ownership (to a point - no grenades or...

Lights. Camera. Action.
I am excited to be going back into production this week on Flashing Lives - the new show I’ve been working on in different capacities over the past year.  It may premier on the web, or it may premier on the TV, that I’ll keep the world updated on as it develops.  I love production though, super happy to be back in it, it’s like my version of going to a Theme Park and riding a...

The Film Business is a DIY Business.
I really like guys and gals that believe in themselves and pursue their dreams… and do whatever it takes.  I saw the film THE TOWN over the weekend.  It’s another good example of Ben Affleck, a guy I’ve been a fan of since the first time I saw Good Will Hunting, and yes, I saw that film AFTER the Oscar win.  Sure… Matt Damon was involved too, but I’m gonna reference...

spytap: The Past So apparently I pissed of half of the known internet today. I looked it right in the eyes and told it yes, its ass did look fat in those jeans. In other words I gave my honest opinion without regard to feelings, sentiment, or repercussion. In return, I got called a number of colorful names by people whose feelings I’d hurt. Some were semi-sarcastic, some were very spirited,...

Flashing Lives.
Some people know I have created & shot a (pilot) new show called Flashing Lives.  It hasn’t disappeared into oblivion and I will be releasing it at an event during Fashion Week 2010 in Los Angeles.  That being said, I’m still shopping it with investors, sponsors, and distribution platforms.  I am also going to be back in production on some new scenes and ideas that I’ve...

The weekend of bad summer movies.
So this weekend is that time of Summer when the bad movies come out… and I think it sucks.  After a pretty awesome week to week summer of good flicks, we end up with Pirahna 3D and Vampires Suck. Wow. I guess the good thing about it, is having another terrible 3D movie come out can get people to shut up about 3D. I could care less if a movie is in 3D or not, and usually when they are...

Spartacus: Blood & Sand
Finally tuned into Spartacus: Blood & Sand via my streaming Netflix… and I’m a fan.  I’m pretty picky with what TV shows I watch, and I watch very few, my favorites are Dexter, Californication & Friday Night Lights, and I was a huge fan of Nip/Tuck.  I’ve seen other shows from Starz and so far everything I’ve seen from them I hated.  I am glad I checked out...

A good positive story...
John is the kind of guy you love to dis. He is always in a good mood and always has something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, “If I were any better, I would be twins!” He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having a bad day, John was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation. Seeing this...

Expendables.
The movie was good… can’t say it was the best film of the summer, I wish it was, but it definitely brings back something I think is missing in action movies.  The story was simple enough and the point of the film was, watching action! This often gets way overlooked in movies I think. I would now like to see a movie with a cast line up similar to this but in Martial Arts. A Bloodsport...

Waiting doesn't get anything done.
A term I’ve used recently, because I have been doing it… is “Waiting.”  I am waiting for this and waiting for that… it’s kind of annoying.  That being said, doesn’t do me any good to wait for anything, so in the meantime I do my best to be pro-active on things I need to get done.  I encourage keeping multiple things going on so that there is never a...

We are the Superheroes we are waiting for… by Marc...
I’m reposting this because I think it is awesome! We are the Superheroes we are waiting for… I have always believed that Superheroes are real and that they operate in the shadows protecting us from the demise of all mankind.  However, as my days here on earth gather together to form a more substantial pile of life experiences, I can’t help but contemplate the question of their ...

I really actually enjoyed venting in my last post… but I think the best part about it was that I posted something!  I gotta keep up the blogging, it’s fun.  Anyways - I’ve had an interesting month, it’s been like the roller coaster Tatsu at Six Flags Magic Mountain where you feel like your floating in the air and your not really sure if your gonna fall or not, then when...

The Streamys... and what to do next? Just keep...
I decided not to attend the Streamys last night because last year was such a letdown, and what I saw in store for this year I just couldn’t get behind. I come from the 2006 web series world, Satacracy 88, Sam Has 7 Friends, Lonelygirl15, Ask A Ninja… and I remember the events at Barbara’s at the Brewery where we were all excited to be on the ground floor of this new medium to showcase our talents...

Shooting in the Desert
I am about to embark on my 4th journey into the desert to shoot a film in less than a year. Tomorrow the temperature is 110, what can I say, I must be called to the sand! We are going to be shooting on the RED camera with Ultra Prime lenses and doing pick ups for a film I shot back in July. I am confident we will get all we need, but honestly, in cannot wait to begin production on the next...

Film has a future.
I personally don’t believe there is an end to DVD or Theatre by any means, regardless of what happens on the interent, people will always want to sit down and watch feature length content in their home and at a theatre.  I want people to keep making online content, but that doesn’t mean the studios won’t always control entertainment, they will…  period.

Motivation
What strives you to do what you do? Find it and focus on it! I continuously try new thing and hold on to the things that work. Believing in myself is the best thing I have! This year is really a good year to grab life by the horns. Just do it, figure out the hurdles later, it will all work out.

indie new media uprise 2.0
As a pioneer in the age of web series, I feel I’ve been on the winning side of new media.  However, with all of us, the pay off hasn’t been 7 figure.  That isn’t a reason to quit, because 6 figure isn’t out of the question.  Producing for new media is all about resources, and everyone has them.  Some of us have better resources than others, but the fact is, when writing for...
